The Challenge
Poultry farms operate with enormous amounts of daily data — flock counts, feed consumption, medicine administration, vaccination schedules, mortality events, egg production, and sales transactions — all of which were previously tracked on paper registers, spreadsheets, or fragmented systems. This resulted in data inconsistency, delayed discovery of issues (such as mortality spikes or feed waste), inaccurate stock levels, missed vaccination schedules, and no real-time visibility into farm profitability. Farm owners had no unified dashboard to monitor multiple farms from a single device, and field staff lacked a simple mobile tool for data entry at the point of activity. The client needed a single, cross-platform mobile application that could manage the entire poultry farming operation — from business unit registration and user management to flock analytics, financial accounting, and export-ready reports — all while supporting multi-farm, multi-user scenarios with role-based access.
Our Solution
We built Poultry Cloud as a cross-platform mobile application using React Native with TypeScript, delivering a native experience on both Android and iOS. The app connects to a Firebase backend powered by Cloud Firestore for real-time data sync and offline persistence, allowing farm staff to continue working even in low-connectivity environments. The solution encompasses 19 major modules: Business & Organization Management (company registration, multi-farm CRUD, active business unit switching), User & Identity Management (email verification with OTP, password reset, role and farm assignment, user directory with search/filter/pagination), Employee Management (onboarding, bulk salary generation, temporary worker tracking), Customer and Supplier Management (contact details, credit flags, opening balances, status management), Flock Management (creation, shed allocation, mortality recording, feed conversion ratio calculation, profit/expense tracking, and analytics with weekly arrival, total sales, and monthly growth graphs), Feed Management (purchase entry, consumption logging with automatic generation, stock level calculations), Medicine and Vaccination Management (item master, purchase entry, usage tracking, vaccination scheduling with status updates, stock views), Egg Production Management (daily production logging in tray/patti/piece units, egg stock levels, sales and return sales, production analytics), Mortality Management (documentation with health status, remaining quantity view), Inventory Management (feed, egg, and vaccination stock monitoring with expiry tracking), Financial Management (chart of accounts with parent account hierarchy, voucher entry with multiple voucher types, ledger with running balances, payables and receivables monitoring with aging details, expense logging, fixed assets register, investor management), Sales Management (flock, egg, and miscellaneous sales with return processing, customer linkage), Dashboard & Analytics (farm summary cards, activity feed, quick actions, flock weekly arrival, total sales, monthly growth, and egg production graphs), and Reports & Export (PDF report generation, Excel export for egg production, egg stock, and flock data with local file storage and native viewer). All modules are backed by a comprehensive REST API surface with server-side pagination, JWT authentication, role-based access control, and centralized HTTP error handling with configurable toast notifications.
